MAD - MEN ARE DOGSBlurb:Men will be men! Huh... Isn't that a sugar coated way of saying "Men Are Dogs". Dogs are loyal, and men... perhaps not all but Sid's definition of loyalty changes with every passing moment. His past is still haunting him, and his present, Anushka, armed with her unselfconscious beauty and poisons imbued into her life, has declared war on the world of men from a young age. Their romance, even after her protest, is ignited by a train robbery that becomes unforgettable for reasons other than the robbery, catches the warmth because of an adolescent romance that reaches consummation, but remains within the periphery because of a live-in relationship that is on the verge of...

Did you miss to read the earlier excerpt, click here to read from the beginning.Suddenly the traffic moved a few meters and it gave the Taxiwalla an opportunity to show his skills. He changed the root and drove as if he would be asked to pay for the differential cost of the tickets if he were to reach late. Continuous cursing of the city was now replaced by my silent prayers and genuine appreciation for the Taxiwalla. Nothing worked, I reached the airport only half-an-hour before the scheduled departure, fifteen minutes short of mandatory forty-five minutes. I was stopped at the entry by a grave looking CRPF person. I pleaded before him to check with the airline officials to e...

Somebody had told me once, it is easy to write a book but it is extremely difficult for a new writer to get a publisher. It took me around eight months to write my book, except of course the time taken for the editing, but for last two years I was unsuccessfully searching for a publisher. The day I had completed my book the enthusiasm level was very high, when I received extremely positive feedback on it from three people the enthusiasm reached its peak, but with each rejection it started declining. I saw the writer in me dying bit by bit every day. Whenever I felt very depressed, I gave the book to a friend asking them to approach anybody who can be trusted and who can read the book and giv...

Prologue  At an unearthly hour of 3 a.m, I opened the main door of my flat and came out, nervous and scared. The darkness outside echoed the void inside me. I looked at the opposite door, for a moment I vaguely thought that the door would open and she would come rushing towards me. But no, the excruciating silence of the darkness was only being broken intermittently by the howling of stray dogs at a distance.I rearranged the laptop backpack hanging from my right shoulder and locked the door. To avoid the untimely rattling of the lift that could have disturbed the silence, I took the stairs. At that moment, walking down four floors demanded adroit coordination of my senses; but my t...

To be part of the next edition, visit and start following Blog-a-Ton. Outside a village somewhere in North India:Day 0 – Around 9 pm:Slowly moving rays of light, emitting probably from the headlight of a tractor disturbed the work. The tractor came too close, then as if on a cue it changed its path and left. It was getting cooler with time and the light also brought the realisation that the patches of mist were developing and slowly the night would become foggy. The sound of the hoe hitting the ground must be reaching miles away. The...

To be part of the next edition, visit and start following Blog-a-Ton. The theme for the month is "SWEET AND SOUR" A maple leaf was flaunting its beauty while carelessly floating above the barren land as if the air was blowing only for her. Soon a gust of wind defied her delusion and took her miles away. Deb was standing in the middle of a barren land. He looked towards the sky, the piercing sun-rays almost blinded him; he closed his eyes and looked down. Rats were coming out of the cracks in the ground. He was scared; beads of ...

To be part of the next edition, visit and start following Blog-a-Ton. The theme for the month is "Break" After coming back from the break (my last post was three months back), I found the topic of BAT is break. I had to break my head to find what to write on break that would break the literary benchmark I have set for myself. Then I realised that I am unable to break the temporary hibernation of my break from blogging. Somewhere I have to start again. Should I write about current Indian political scenario? Isn’t the word Break is comp...

To be part of the next edition, visit and start following Blog-a-Ton. The theme for the month is "and then there were none" It was a cold night, close to midnight. Far away from the cacophony of the buzzing city crowd, which might still be crawling on the streets, I was sitting in the balcony of my flat, alone, enjoying the tranquillity of the night. There was no sound except for the chirping of a cricket. It was not very far away from the place where I was sitting. The sky was shining with all its pearls glowing brighter than ever before. An innocent face with a moustache, curly hair on the top but completely trimmed on the sides, lips sprouted a coy smile reflecting the inner shyness. This picture remained adrift in my eyes for a long time. My world had changed after my father told me that I was getting married with you. I was happy in spite of the fact that I would be leaving my parents home. Those feelings titillate me even now. I wish I could relive that moment again. How delicate I was when your first touch created ripples under my skin. How secured and protected I felt when you embraced me for the first time. How mesmerised I was when on the fourth day you softly held my hand and whispered in my ears, “I love you.” H...

To be part of the next edition, visit and start following Blog-a-Ton. The theme for the month is "...and the world was silent again" I, an unwanted consequence of an inebriated desire of a respected creature of his society, was born on a busy road. Passerby watched with amazement as I was unwanted, but the world was silent.Outside on the pavement of the toy shop where my days of infancy were spent, I craved for many things. People went in and came out with pitiful eyes screaming that I was unwanted but the world was silent. The school in...

I wish everyone loved reading novels in our country. We are a vast country but I feel this one aspect of entertainment hasn’t touched many hearts as yet. We are the largest producer of films in the world. We are a country where one sport is followed like a religion. We are so passionate about entertainment; imagine if novels attract the same kind of craze among audience, considering that it has all the ingredients that an average Indian demands. In the last few year the industry has certainly improved but still the potential is huge. Now, let me reveal the secret behind my wish. Like many bloggers, even I have a wish to get my book published one day. But, unlike many, who started blogging f...

The one thing I wish everyone would learn is to understand and interpret their own religion, if one believes in a religion, in a true positive sense, and not to diminish, if not respect, some other religion even if one doesn't believe in any religion. Religion binds a community together yet it breaks a country and the world at the same time. The root cause of many problems the world is facing today is somewhere related to religion.***The one thing I wish everyone would learn is to help without casting any favour or obligation on the other person. How beautiful this world would be when people would help not as favour but as selfless service, in fact one would feel blessed if he would be...

The entire nation is shattered. This should not have happened. This is more dangerous than a terrorist attack where an outsider is involved, but this was done by our own people, son of our own soil.  Whatever happened in Delhi with a 23-year-old girl was a gruesome unpardonable crime, which needs to be dealt as per the law of the land. But the sad part is that the Law also need certain amendment to make them more stringent on such crimes. People are protesting, people are showing their support for the victim who is still fighting the toughest battle, the battle to keep her chain of breath unbroken. But what disturbs me is the reaction of certain people who starts making demeaning remarks ag...

“If wishes were horses, beggars would ride.” This 16-17th Century proverb was taught to us when we were in School. That was the time when our wishes had wings. They were not contaminated by the atrocious yet the realistic face of world. You ask a kid about his wishes and he will have a long list, even though they might be fantasies.  But, as we attained the, so called, maturity the list started shrinking because creatures called reality and rationality were nibbling it every day, every second. Today, when I came across the “Wish list Wednesday” creative prompt, I thought a lot about the three things I badly wish I could have. Whatever that came to my mind were all infected by the s...
